History of the Baháʼí Faith in Trinidad & Tobago

Learn about the early history of the Baháʼí Faith in Trinidad and Tobago from when it was first introduced into the country in 1927, to the establishment of the first National Spiritual Assembly in 1971.

The purpose of this site is to provide an early history of the Baháʼí Faith in Trinidad and Tobago assessing how key persons and events have contributed to introducing the Faith into the country and helped to shape its history.  This site is targeted toward persons requiring general information on the history of the Faith, for Baháʼís who wish to learn more about how the Faith came to the country, as well as for scholars who can use this site as a starting point for their research.

Persons who shaped the early history of the Faith

The Baháʼí Faith was introduced into the country by pioneers from other countries who were instrumental in providing momentum and establishing a firm basis for growth.  Additionally, several local believers immediately arose to serve the Faith and contributed significantly to its growth and development.

Background and Key Events

In order to understand some of the actions of the early Baháʼís, some background information is provided on what Baháʼís believe as well as information on the Divine Plans which provide goals and timelines for their accomplishment. Additionally, several milestones were achieved in the period 1970 to 1971 which were significant in the early history of the Faith.
